Laurenson) has advised the New Zealand Rugby Union that football matches are not considered “special occasions” within the meaning of the Transport Licensing Act 1931, and therefore a licence must be taken out in addition io a certificate of fitness for any service in which a lorry owner is charged for the carriage of a team. A special reduction had been made to 10/- for a certificate of fitness fee and the fee for a seasonal licence covering the whole of a football season would be reduced to 5/-.
