CREOSOTING PLANT
GOVERNMENT CONTRACT TO BE LET SHORTLY
(United Press Association) ROTORUA, June 16,
An indication that at the end of the present month the Government hoped to let a contract for the equipment and machinery necessary for the erection of a mill at Rotorua for the utilization of products of State forestations and also for the establishment of a creosoting plant which would make it possible to supply most of the North Island’s requirements in the way of fencing posts, strainers, mining props and power poles, was given by the Commissioner of State Forests (the Hon. F. Langstone) at the official opening of the Rotorua winter show today. Mr Langstone added that the Government proposed to establish two similar enterprises in the South Island. The Minister, during his visit to the district, inspected native land development work in his capacity as acting Minister in Charge of Native Affairs and expressed his gratification with the splendid progress being made.
