The Union Company’s intercolonial steamer Waikouaiti finished working yesterday and sailed early in the afternoon for Sydney. The motor-vessel Tamatea sailed at 10.15 am. yesterday for Stewart Island with passengers and general cargo and returned to Bluff at 450 p.m. The schooner Britannia arrived with passengers and cased fish at 9.50 ajn. yesterday from Stewart Island. The Union Steam Ship Company’s new freighter Kauri, which has been completing discharge of her South Australian cargo at Dunedin, is to arrive at Bluff today from Dunedin and will sail finally for Launceston and Adelaide. En route from Wales, via Safaga, the Union Company’s new motor-ship Waiana cleared Thursday Island last Thursday morning. She has phosphate for discharge at Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin, and is due at Auckland on June 20 and at Dunedin on June 27. The Union Company’s Rangatlra, on her arrival at Wellington on Saturday from Lyttelton, will be laid up for overhaul and survey. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd, have received cabled advice that the Y.K.K. Line steamer Chifuku Maru cleared Milke on June 8 for Auckland, Wellington. Lyttelton and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland on June 30.

The Shaw, Savill Company has received cabled advice that the Raranga reached London on June 9. She left Wellington on April 25 for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool and Glasgow, via Montevideo and Teneriffe.

Advice has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company that the Turakina, en route from Liverpool to New Zealand in ballast, cleared Curacao on June 7. She is due in New Zealand on July 5 to load Homeward.

Swedish ship yards delivered in the year 1936 a total of 60 ships of 193,065 tons dw, compared with 52 of 142,680 tons in the previous 12 months, the highest year’s output ever recorded in Swedish ship building. All but .5 per cent, of the tonnage was Diesel-propelled. The Blue Star Line’s new motor-ship Melbourne Star is due at Dunedin tomorrow to complete discharge and commence Homeward loading. It is hoped to despatch her on June 21 for Bluff, Timaru, Wellington and Auckland to complete. The tanker Beduin left Los Angeles on May 21 for Auckland, where she was expected to arrive on Monday. The Canadian Challenger was expected at Dunedin yesterday to complete discharge of her Halifax cargo. She is to sail today for New Caledonia to load ore.

The Union Company’s intercolonial trader, Kaikorai, which is undergoing survey at Port Chalmers, is to sail on Saturday for Newcastle and Sydney.

Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd- have received advice that the YKJL Line’s new motor-ship Kozan Maru has been fixed to clear Japan on July 3 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin, in place of the Manju Maru. She is due at Auckland about July 20. The first of three new ships to replace those which have been carrying on the company’s Japan-New Zealand service, the Kozan Maru has a gross tonnage of about 5800, with a speed of about 18 knots.
