THE WEATHER CLOUDY AND CHANGEABLE

(Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, June 14. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland, as issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington: Moderate to strong southerly to south-westerly winds. Weather cloudy and changeable, with occasional showers or misty rain, more especially in coastal areas. Temperatures cool. > Seas becoming rather rough. Following is the Dominion forecast. Weather cloudy to overcast and. in places, misty. Some rain probable in most districts, with a few heavy falls, more especially in the central districts and the northern and northeastern portions of the South Island. Temperatures moderate to cool. General Situation.—The pressure is relatively high east of the South Island and also over Tasmania. A shallow complex depression is now located over the Eastern Tasman Sea and the Dominion, the main centre lying west of the Cook Strait area. Winds.—North-westerly to westerly over the northern portion of the North Island, later backing to south-westerly; elsewhere winds between north-east and south-east prevailing, strong at first in parts of the central districts but otherwise of force mainly light to moderate. Seas. —New Zealand waters, rather rough to rough south of East Cape and about Cook Strait, elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea, moderate westerly to south-westerly winds in the northern half and north-easter-lies in the southern. Seas moderate generally, but rather rough at first in the central portion. At one o’clock this morning the weather was calm and fine. The barometer readings for the past three mornings have been as follows:— This morning (falling) 29.68 in. Wednesday 29.80 in. Tuesday 29.77 in.
