New Zealand Ski Season Draws Near
JUNE, and with it the beginning of the New
Zealand Ski season, is here. At Ruapehu, Mt. Egmont and the Southern Alps resorts there will soon be gatherings of young people intent on this newest of New Zealand’s national sports.
There is a thrill about speeding across the snow that has no equal, and on a pleasant skiing day there is a tang about the air and a spirit of camaraderie about the skiers that gives the cream of zest to life.
But not even skiing is exempt from the domination of Dame Fashion, and though her scope is restricted she can still find expression in both skiing styles and skiing colours. The photograph on this page were taken at Mt. Kosciusko, the famous Australian skiing resort, just prior to the last Australian ski championships.
Members arrived in parties all the week, and after a little rest at the hotel, the various groups sallied forth on the long run to the Chalet.
