Balfour EUCHRE

The members of the Anglican Church held another of their series of euchre tournaments recently. The prize-wm-ners were Mr T. Lush and Miss McDonald. Mr W. Weavers won the door prize. ' A most successful euchre tournament was held recently under the auspices of the Longridge School Jubilee Committee. The prize-winners were Mrs W. Todd and Miss V. Joyce. The door prize was won by Miss I. McDonald. SCHOOL BAZAAR A meeting to discuss the holding of a bazaar to raise funds for school ground improvement and school equipment was held recently. The election of office-bearers resulted:—Chairman, Mr E. W. Stevens; joint secretaries, Messrs D. Alexander and W. Cassels. It was decided that all present form a committee with the inclusion of Mesdames D. Mulqueen and E. W. Stevens. The date of the bazaar will be July 30 or August 6. The following will be in charge of the stalls:—Plain and fancy, Mrs A. Liddell; produce, Mrs D. M. Alexander; sweets and refreshments, Mrs W. Todd; raffles and competitions, Messrs D. Mulqueen and W. Todd; tea rooms, Mrs E. W. Stevens. The secretary was instructed to communicate with the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry) about a permit to hold raffles. The following were appointed to canvass the district:—Glenure and Sandstone, Mr E. W. Stevens; Longridge, Mr D. Mulqueen; Balfour, Messrs W. Todd and A. Liddell; Kingston Crossing, Mr P. Nossitor; Black Swamp, Mr D. M. Alexander. It was left in Mr A. Liddell’s hands to arrange for door keepers. The charge of admission will be 1/-.
