CLERGYMAN TO TOUR AMERICA

LECTURES NOT CONNECTED WITH DUKE OF WINDSOR LONDON, June 14. The Daily Mail says that the Rev. Anderson Jardine, who has announced his resignation as vicar of St. Paul’s, Darlington (Yorkshire), accompanied by his wife, is going to America on a lecture tour at the end of the month. He emphasizes that he does not intend to discuss the Duke of Windsor’s marriage, but simply travel from city to city lecturing on religious subjects. Mr Jardine does not want to leave the Church of England, but would like to go to a parish in the South of England. “The only letter I received from the Duke of Windsor, is personal,” he said. “It has nothing to do with my future. My wife is pleased at the prospect of escaping from gossiping tongues in Darlington. As for myself, I have long felt that a younger vicar is needed in the parish, and I intended to resign in any case this year.”
