CONSOLIDATION OF SCHOOLS
OPPORTUNITIES TO BE GIVEN COUNTRY PUPILS (United Press Association) HAWERA, May 26. Speaking as Minister of Education, the Hon Peter Fraser, at the opening of the South Taranaki winter show, mentioned the merit of educational exhibits and referred to the consolidation of schools. He appealed for the full co-operation of people who could rise above parochialism and animosity to give country children equal opportunities with those in larger centres. He commended for support the system now begun cf road transport for secondary and technical school pupils as well as for primary scholars. Mr Fraser attended a social arranged by the Hawera branch of the Labour Party and before his departure for Dannevirke this morning inspected the technical, high and primary schools.
