COUNTY COUNCIL
ANNUAL MEETING CR McNAUGHT ELECTED CHAIRMAN The annual meeting of the Southland County Council was held yesterday Cr F. Trapski, the retiring chairman, presided. There were present: Crs T. Golden, G. W. Whittingham, J. McNeill, A. S. McNaught, G. A. Wraytt, J. Dennis, W. M. Norman and L. A. Niederer. . Cr McNaught was elected chairman for the coming year. He thanked the council for his appointnient and praised the work of Cr Trapski. The retiring chairman thanked the councillors, the office staff and the Press for the assistance they had given him during his term of office. The following appointments were made: Southland Land Drainage Act Committee—Cr McNeill (chairman) and Crs Trapski, Golden, McNaught, Whittingham and Niederer. Finance Committee —Cr Golden (.chairman) and all other members of the council. Representative on Southland Progress League and Invercargill Chamber of Commerce—The chairman.
