MATERNITY SERVICES
COMMITTEE OF INQUIRY IN
INVERCARGILL Five members and the secretary of. the maternity services inquiry committee arrived in Invercargill last evening and the sittings will begin here this afternoon. The committee comprises Dr D. G. McMillan, M.P., chairman, Dr T. F. Corkill, Dr T. L. Paget, inspector of private hospitals, Dr Sylvia Chapman, Mrs Peter Fraser, Mrs A. M. Hutchinson and Mrs N. G. KentJohnston. Dr McMillan will not reach Invercargill till midday today and Dr Chapman is not coming south. The committee is making full inquiries into the whole of the maternity services of the Dominion and is to report, with recommendations, to the Government. The members will visit Riverton this morning, and in the afternoon and evening, and probably again tomorrow, will hear evidence. On Thursday Winton, Lumsden, Queenstown and Cromwell will be visited. Any person wishing to give information to the committee is invited to get in touch with the secretary (Mr J. W. Buchanan) at the office of the Southland Hospital Board.
