PROGRESS AFTER MISHAP (Received May 24, 6.30 p.m.) NEWPORT, May 23. The Endeavour, Mr T. O. M. Sopwith’s British challenger for the America’s Cup, which broke her towline on May 14 and was believed to be “somewhere in the Atlantic,” on Friday passed the Nantucket lightship and is expected to arrive at Newport tomorrow. -A coastguard cutter was sent to escort her. There is no word yet of how those aboard fared.

A plane late tonight discovered the yacht 35 miles south of the Nantucket lightship, on its way to Newport. The pilot said there was no sign of.damage; all the hands seemed well and happy, and waved. The lifeboats were all intact, all the sails were set, and the yacht was making good progress.
