Welcome Home

A welcome home was given Mr and Mrs C. R. Cross, of Brydone, who were married recently. The evening took the form of a dance, which was held in Mr H. Jenkin’s barn on Tuesday evening. The music was supplied by Mr J. West (Hedgehope), while Mr R. McDonald (Brydone) and Mr R. Headley (Te Tipua) played extras. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr J. Seator and Miss N. Spencer. Mr J. Hay acted as M.C. Mr G. Hay presented Mr and Mrs Cross with a bronze fire screen and woodbox to match, and wished them both future happiness and prosperity. Mr C. Goodwin, of Te Tipua, also spoke. Mr Cross replied. During the evening, Mr Sutton (Glencoe) gave a recitation. The evening concluded with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.” Amongst those present were: Mr and Mrs G. Hay, Mr and Mrs C.
