SUPPLY OF MILKING MACHINES
SINGLE CONTRACT TO BE LET (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 23. The unification in Government contracts is to be extended to the supply of milking machines for the use on dairying properties under the control of the various departments. The Government Stores Control Board is calling for tenders - for the supply of milking plants. The successful tenderer will contract to supply all the machines for use on Government properties for the ensuing year. This represents a departure from the system followed hitherto, which has been to call separate tenders for each unit or a small number of units whenever new plant has been required. A single contractor will be called upon to supply upward of 100 milking machines of all sizes, so that the value of the contract may be expected to run into some thousands of pounds. It is considered that the letting of a single contract will mean a saving in expenditure as well as greater convenience in ordering plant.
