SOUTHLAND HOSPITAL COMMISSION

CONSIDERATION OF REPORT BY CABINET (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, April 23. With a number of matters of urgent national importance occupying its attention Cabinet has not yet found opportunity to consider the report of the Southland Hospital Commission and the development that had followed the publication of the commission’s recommendations. The acting Prime Minister (the Hon. P. Fraser) tonight said he was unable to give any idea when Cabinet would be in a position to discuss the question, but it was learned that Cabinet fully appreciates the importance of the matter to Southland, as well as the importance of the general principle involved, and that it will be one of the first subjects that will receive attention when the pressure has eased a little.
