TROUT FISHING PRAISED
SIR HARRY LAUDER ON HOLIDAY (Special to The Times) AUCKLAND, April 23. Enthusiasm for the trout fishing in New Zealand and also for some of the scenic wonders of the Dominion was expressed today by Sir Harry Lauder when he arrived from the Waitomo Caves by motor-car. Sir Harry, who is accompanied by his niece, Miss Greta Lauder, will remain in Auckland until May 3, when he will sail for San Francisco by the Monterey on his way back to Scotland. “This is the first real holiday I have ever had in my life,” Sir Harry said, “and I regret greatly that it is coming to an end. The sunshine and sport in Australia and New Zealand have given me back my health I have been taking sulphur baths in the ,thermal district and I feel young again.” Sir Harry said he had had some excellent fishing at Lake Taupo. He had also enjoyed some good fishing in the South Island, but he considered there was nothing in the world to equal the sport at Taupo. “The glow worm cave at Waitomo is the most wonderful and fascinating sight I have ever seen in my life, and I have been round the world four times,” Sir Harry continued. He mentioned the kind receptions hte had received everywhere since he had arrived in New Zealand and the many old friends whom he had met again. A keen interest in motoring is taken by Sir Harry and he paid a tribute to the skill of the New Zealand service car drivers whom he ranked with the taxi drivers of London as the best in the world.
