KNITTED JUMPERS

If the neck opening of a V-necked jumper is found to be too large, it may be reduced satisfactorily in the following way. Knit in garter-stitch a strip about one inch wide and of whatever length may be required. If wool to match exactly cannot be obtained, a contrasting shade may be used-with good effect When the strip is made lay a damp cloth over it and stretch and press it well. Then lay one side of the strip along the edge of the neck opening, allowing it to overlap slightly on the upper side. Join the two edges with matching wool, using a running stitch, so that the strip sets properly in position. To give a neat finish to the new neckline trim the V with a flat bow made from a knitted strip similar to the one used to reduce the opening.
