AUSTRALIANS PRACTICE IN MEXICO (Received April 21, 7.15 p.m.) MEXICO CITY, April 20. The Australian Davis Cup team, which plays the first round in the American zone against Mexico on April 30, had singles practice today, J. Bromwich playing V. B. McGrath and J. H. Crawford playing A. K. Quist. The players remarked that the sunshine made them feel like being at home. A large gallery paid rapt attention to the styles of Bromwich and McGrath. The manager (Mr C. E. Sproule) said that ■ the players were in good shape and could be expected to become accustomed to the higher bounces caused by the high altitude. Many of the “outs” during practice matches would have been inside if the games had been played at sea level. The members of the team were enjoying the Spanish and Mexican food at the Majestic, the city’s newest-hotel. The practice games were relatively light and no scores were taken.
