WOMAN’S SUDDEN DEATH
The death occurred suddenly, at about 5.30 on Monday evening of Mrs Ann Campbell, aged 65, at her residence, Kennington. The Coroner (Mr W. H. Freeman) opened an inquest at Kennington to take evidence of identification and it was adjourned sine die. FALL FROM CYCLE An unusual accident resulted in the admission to the Southland. Hospital at Kew yesterday afternoon of Mrs Myrtle Ruby Jeffrey, aged 30, of Centre Bush. She was riding a bicycle and carrying a suitcase on the handlebar, but it jammed between her knee and the frame of the cycle and caused her to fall. Lacerations of the knee necessitated treatment at the hospital, but her condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory. BURNS FROM BOILING FAT Raymond Clark, aged five, of Wrights Bush, was admitted to the Southland Hospital yesterday afternoon suffering from burns received when he collided with his mother, who was carrying a basin of boiling fat. It was reported last evening that his condition was satisfactory. CAUGHT IN A WINCH (United Press Association) HOKITIKA, April 20. William Berganan, aged 25 years, a bushman, was caught in a winch at Waitaha and both legs were crushed. He was also burnt by steam. He is progressing favourably.
