FAKIR OF IPI INCITES TRIBESMEN

QUESTIONS TO HOUSE OF COMMONS

LONDON, April 19. The Fakir of Ipi exhorted numerous Wazirs and Mahsuds to commit offences against the Government, after which there were various raids and sniping. The recent fighting in South Waziristan was the subject of an answer in the House of Commons by the Undersecretary for India (Mr R. A. Butler), who said that the recrudescence and extension of the trouble was caused by the increasing scale of the fanatical and anti-British propaganda of the Fakir of Ipi. The propaganda' was at first confined to the younger and irresponsible elements in the tribes, which appeared to be out of control by the responsible tribal leaders. Every effort was being made to restore order by means of political pressure, assisted by aerial action.
