Miss G. Corkhill is spending a few days with her sister, Miss A. Corkhill, Spar Bush. ' Miss McJennet, Wellington, is the guest of Mr and Mrs C. F. Bruce, Bank House, Tuatapere. Miss Doreen Stapleton has returned to Invercargill from a holiday with Miss G. Smith, Tokanui. The Misses M. Drysdale and M. Taylor, Brydone, are spending a holiday on the West Coast. Mrs J. Coughlan has returned to Tuatapere from a visit to relations in Ashburton and Dunedin; Mrs A R. Wilson, of Auckland, who has been the guest of Mrs B. Wilson, Edendale, has returned north. Mrs H. Clayton, Bluff, has returned from a visit to her parents, Mr and Mrs W. Sherriff, sen., Tuatapere. Miss Dorothy Davis has returned to Dunedin from a holiday in Edendale, where she was the guest of Mrs R. M. Davis.

Mr and Mrs W. Rodger, Wright’s Bush, and their children were the guests of Mrs J. Coughlan, Tuatapere, for the week-end.

Mr and Mrs A. Murphy, Mrs D. Pottinger and Miss Hughes (Invercargill) were among the recent guests at Wanaka Hotel, Pembroke.

Recently the Spar Bush Tennis Club held a dance to conclude the season. The music was supplied by Mrs J. Donald and Mr J. Kerr, while extras were played by Mr J. Moylan (Northope). Mr G. Yesterday afternoon members of the Southland Women’s Club met in the reception room to bid farewell to Miss M. T. Crofts, who leaves shortly for a holiday in England. The president, Mrs R. J. Gilmour, spoke of the work Miss Crofts had always done willingly for the club, and, on behalf of the members, wished her a happy holiday and a safe return. Mrs J. Wyndham Notes

Mrs Maurice Tangney, Ferry street, Wyndham, who has been spending a holiday in Dunedin, has returned home. Miss D. Crighton is spending a holiday with her parents, Mr and Mrs R. Crighton, Alma street. Wyndham. A successful and well attended dance was held by the Menzies Ferry Basketball Club in the public hall.. The hall was gaily decorated with multi-coloured streamers. The Revellers’ orchestra provided the dance music and an extra was contributed by Miss Myrtle McLauchlan. Competition dances were won as follows: Lucky spot, Mrs J. Richardson (Mataura Island) and Mr J. McKeown (Mataura Island); statue dance, Miss Edna O’Rourke (Tuturau) and Mr C. Burgess (Wyndham); Monte Carlo, Miss K. Gorman (Wyndham) and Mr H.
