DEPARTURE OF SISTER ALICE

FAREWELL TEA ATTENDED BY MOTHERS AND CHILDREN

A farewell tea, at which about 300 or 400 mothers and children were present, was held in honour of Sister Alice, who is shortly leaving Invercargill for England, in H. and J. Smith’s hall last evening. Mr J. W. Smith supplied the tea. Community singing, led by Mr W. Aitchison, was enjoyed by those present. A testimonial signed by prominent business men of Invercargill was given to Sister Alice who, in her reply, extended thanks and said that undoubtedly it would be of great use to her in England. She said she desired to express her gratitude and thanks to all her helpers in the work and emphasized the assistance given to her at all times during her 17 years in Invercargill by Mr C. S. Longuet.
