ROBBERY IN LIFT

BANDITS IN PARK AVENUE HOTEL

(Received April 19, 7.35 p.m.) NEW YORK, April 18.

Three bandits entered a fashionable hotel, the Delmonico, in Park Avenue, menaced four guests and a lift operator with guns and took 15,000 dollars in jewels and money. The robbers forced their victims, one of whom was a retired industrialist and the others women, to leave the lift at the 11th floor, and then threatened the lift operator with death unless he was silent until their departure.

The bandits strolled unnoticed through the crowded lobby and escaped in a stolen motor-car which was later abandoned.
