THE CORONATION SERVICE
OFFICIAL FORM PUBLISHED LONDON, April 4. The official form of the Coronation service is published today. It confirms the reports that it will be the shortest on record by the elimination of the features of several previous Coronations. It indicates in addition that the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Bishops will pay homage to the King together instead of separately. The King will broadcast a message to the whole of the British Commonwealth on the evening of the Coronation Day at the end of the Empire programme of homage in which six Prime Ministers, including Mr Stanley Baldwin as well as the Viceroy of India will participate. The King and the Queen will attend the Cup final at Wembley Stadium on May Ist.
The King and Queen will go into residence at Windsor Castle next Wednesday for the first time since their accession. They will remain there till a few days before the Coronation, but the King will come to London on April 20 to unveil the Guards’ Memorial to King George the Fifth at Wellington Barracks, and on the 27th both their Majesties will motor to London, to travel then by river to Greenwich for the opening of the National Maritime Museum.
