CLEVER DOG KILLS MASTER

TAUGHT TO DISARM GUNMEN (Received April 5, 7.50 p.m.) NEW YORK, April 5. A patrolman, Patrick Conroy, was killed when demonstrating how he taught a pet dog to disarm a gunman. Conroy pointed a revolver and the dog leaped at his wrist and upset its master. The weapon was discharged, the bullet entering his heart. A stepson, aged 10, re-enacted the scene with a toy pistol to convince the police that death was ’ accidental. Conroy’s last words were that the dog was not to blame.
