Allocation By The Mayor A DISTRIBUTION OF £1650 CRIPPLED CHILDREN TO RECEIVE £4OO The distribution of Invercargill’s share of the gift of £51,700 Lord Nuffield gave to New Zealand charities last month was announced yesterday by the Mayor (Mr John Miller), at whose sole discretion the allocation was made. Lord Nuffield had expressed the opinion that crippled children, hospital and maternity work and those who suffered such afflictions as blindness, deafness and dumbness should be uppermost in the minds of mayors when they were preparing their allocations. The £1650 given to Invercargill has been distributed by the Mayor as follows:— £ N.Z. Crippled Children Society (Southland branch) 400 N.Z. Plunket Society (Southland branch) 250 Allison Presbyterian Heme 250 Victoria Memorial Home 200 Mayor’s Relief Fund 200 N.Z. Institute for the Blind 100 N.Z. Red Cross Society (Southland branch) 50 Salvation Army, Invercargill Corps, Samaritan Fund 50 St. Vincent de Paul Society 50 Invercargill Free Kindergarten Council 40 “Radio in Hospitals” Fund 10 St. John Ambulance Association, Invercargill 10 St. John Ambulance Brigade, Invercargill io Southland Children’s Health Camp Association 10 King George V Memorial Fund 10 Invercargill Sixpenny Clothing Club 1° £1650
