Mr W. T. Hazlett returned in the Marama yesterday from Melbourne. Mr W R. Wilmott, manager of Millers Ltd., Timaru, returned yesterday in the Marama from a visit to Australia. Mr J. Alexander, City Engineer of Dunedin, arrived at Bluff, after a visit to Australia, in the Marama yesterday. Mr H. Pickhover, manager of a broadcasting station in Newcastle, arrived by the Marama yesterday on a brief business visit to the Dominion. Mr J. M. Fisher, the Tasmanian Government’s representative in New Zealand, was a passenger in the Marama, which arrived at Bluff from Melbourne yesterday. Mr G. Stewart, managing director of J. K. Mooney and Co., Ltd., Dunedin, returned in the Marama yesterday from an extended business tour of America and the Continent. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr C. W. Patton was passed by the management committee of the Southland Rugby Union last evening. Mr F. A. Robins, senior supervisor of the telegraph branch of the Chief Post Office, Invercargill, is acting Chief Postmaster in the absence of Mr F. G. Nind, the Chief Postmaster. It is officially explained that Mr Leslie Lefeaux, Governor of the Reserve Bank, is going to London, probably by the Rangitata tomorrow, to attend a banking conference.—Press Association.

The management committee of the Southland Rugby Union last evening appointed the president (Mr L. R. Lopdell) and Mr R. T. Meredith its delegates to the annual meeting of the New Zealand Union at Wellington on April 21. Mr G. H. Strock, of Detroit, executive manager of the Australian and New Zealapd division of the Chrysler Export Corporation, has completed a business tour of New Zealand, and sailed from Auckland by the Mariposa for San Francisco. Guests at the Grand Hotel include Messrs W. G. Fernie (Christchurch), A. O. Wilkinson (Christchurch), R. Smith (Wellington), E. Mills (Hobart), J. H. Hides (Melbourne), H. Doyle (Melbourne), A. L. Callick (Dunedin), K. T, Duthie (Dunedin) and E. Trenwick (Dunedin).

Among the guests at the Club Hotel are Messrs F. W. Granger (Wellington), H. Graham (Dunedin), D. Shortt, A. W. Smith (Christchurch), E. S. Thomson (Wellington), G. Howels (Greymouth), C. Jarvis, L. Darling (Dunedin), S. G. Spence (Christchurch) and C. W. Huntable (Brisbane).
