MONTHLY MEETING MEDICAL REPORTS RECEIVED Medical reports from superintendents and matrons in the board’s hospital district were received at the monthly meeting of the Southland Hospital Board yesterday. The chairman (Mr T. Golden) presided. There were present: Miss H. L. Birss, Mrs A. Henderson, Messrs W. Clark, W. Grieve, J. S. A. McDougall, A. McKenzie, J. W. Miller, J. Miller, W. Norman, F. Trapski and Dr J. A. Pottinger. The medical superintendent at the Southland hospital (Dr L. C. McNickle) stated in his monthly report that 103 patients remained in the hospital at January 31. During February 186 patients had been admitted to the hospital, 170 had been discharged and nine had died. At February 28, 110 patients remained in the hospital. The collective days’ stay was 3180 and the individual days’ stay was 11,003. The matron of the Southland hospital (Miss J. Ross) acknowledged the following donations during February: Red Cross Society, fruit; Reserves Department, flowers; Mesdames Gordon, children’s books; J. Miller, flowers; C. J. Gilmour, books; H. Gore Hospital Dr J. E. Rogers, medical superintendent of the Gore hospital, reported that 28 patients remained in the hospital at February 1. Sixty-seven patients were admitted during the month, bringing the total under treatment to 95. During the month 69 patients had been discharged and three had died. Twenty-three patients remained in the hospital at March 1. There were 44 operations during February. The following donations for February were acknowledged by the matron of the Gore hospital (Miss V. Fox): Mrs S. Gerken (Knapdale), flowers and books; Women’s Club (Gore), books; Miss E. McCorkindale (Gore), books; Miss Ramsay (Gore), flowers; Mrs Blackmore (Gore), flowers; Women’s Division, Waikaka Valley, flowers; Mrs Nicholson, books. Lake County Hospital Twenty patients were treated at the Lake County hospital during February, stated the medical superintendent (Dr W. A. Anderson) in his monthly report. Twelve patients had been discharged during the month and eight remained in the hospital at March 1. There were three operations during the month. Lome, Infirmary During February 84 patients were treated in the Lome Infirmary, said the matron (Miss J. H. Rattray) in her monthly report. Thirteen patients had been discharged during February and two had died. At March 1, 69 patients remained in the hospital. The following donations were acknowledged for the month of February: Mrs Chalmers, books; Mr Leckie, books; Mrs Watt, flowers.
