RATES ON CROWN LANDS
PAYMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 5. An announcement that the Government would pay rates on Crown lands was made by the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) in an interview today. He said he was not prepared to discuss details at present, but he pointed out that where the Crown held land, and where no rates were paid, it meant that the rates had to be made up by holders of land in the locality.
