Riverton ANNUAL FLOWER SHOW

METHODIST GARDENING CLUB The fourth annual display of the Riverton Methodist Gardening Club, held in Fleck’s Hall, was highly successful both in the number of entries and the attendance of the public. The show was opened by the Mayor, (Dr N. G. Trotter) who remarked on the brilliant display of blooms and the excellent exhibits in the vegetable section.

A striking feature of the show was a display of gladioli, primulinus grandiflorus and primulinus hybrids, staged by Mr A. L. King, Lawrence. This display was much admired and being named permitted gladioli enthusiasts to become acquainted with the less common varieties and. to compare locally grown blooms with those from Central Otago. In this respect the club’s work is of true horticultural and educational value.
