HARRAWAY SHIELD
To The Editor
Sir, —“Disgusted” must be quite a new-chum to dare to find fault with the selectors or the executive of the Southland Bowling Centre. “The Big Five” are so well entrenched that they cannot be “gassed out” of their position and it is a surprise to many that some of the “smaller-fry clubs” have been conosidered worthy enough to be honoured with the selectors’ recognition. Although the R.S.A. Club has had a slur cast upon it, I hope and trust that it will still continue to be the sports club that it is famed for being. Pay your affiliation fees, R.S.A., stand to attention when the “heads” pass by and thank your lucky stars that they allow you to play on your own green without too much interference. The Harraway Shield will be played, all players will have a most enjoyable time, and I am sure that no member of the R.S.A. will grudge players the little extra ribbon or badge they add to their hat band or blazer. Some time in the distant future “Disgusted” may see a representative selected from the R.S.A. Club, but he had better mind his steps or he will have to swallow further insults and may cause the R.S.A. bowlers to receive black looks from the “Big Five.”—Yours, etc., WRONG BIAS. March 4, 1937.
