POET PREPARES FOR DEATH
BATH OF CHEMICALS TO DISSOLVE BODY LONDON, March 4. The Gardone correspondent of the British United Press says that Signor Gabriele d'Annunzio, the Italian poet, is planning his death by dissolving his body jn a bath containing a powerful self-invented chemical compound.. According to a close friend. Signor d’Annunzio proposes to take this “death bath” when he feels natural death approaching. This, according to the. friend, is the real meaning of . his recent message to Lieutenant Achille. Starace, Secretary-General of the Fascist Party, in which he said: “I’m an old sick man, so I am going to hasten my end.” The poet will be 74 on March 12.
