CHEESE MANAGERS’ DISPUTE

AGREEMENT TO BE MADE INTO AN AWARD (TJnited Press Association) DUNEDIN, March 4. In connection with the Otago and Southland cheese factory managers’ dispute, Mr A. S. Cookson asked the Arbitration Cotut if it could see its way to make an award in the terms of the recommendations which had been filed, and which contained unusual provisions. He was instructed that the agreement was to be made into an award on the condition that workers subject to the award were to be deemed to be occupiers, and not workers, for the purpose of the Factories Act, which would enable them to work unrestricted hours. His Honour said the matter would be completed at Invercargill, where the secretary of the union resided.
