In addition to the local corps the muster was made up of the companies from Gore, Riverton and Bluff, who all arrived in commendable strength by the early trains. The total number of volunteers in attendance was 300, a number which it is safe to say no district in the colony of the same size can. surpass. Sir George Grey’s Library.—Auckland, November 13. The City Council last night authorized the Mayor to send some person to Kawau to consult with Sir George Grey as to the removal of his library to the new building here. Besides books, Sir George Grey has resolved to give to the city his collection of South Sea Islands curiosities.
