COUSIN BETTY’S LETTER

My Deal- Cousins, Christmas is coming nearer and nearer, and with it comes our Hospital Day. On this day, all the Little Southlanders gather at the Hospital, where the prizes for the year are awarded to the clever cousins who have earned them, and then we make a complete tour of the wards, taking with us cheery smiles, happy faces, and presents for all the patients, and last but by no means least, Father Christmas himself! The most important prizes are, of course, the Gold Medal for the very best writer and contributor, and the Silver Cup for the Clan with the largest total of marks for the year. I want you all to read them carefully, and when you send in your entries, do not forget to mark them “original” or “copied.” This is very important. Do you know, I was almost closing this letter of mine without mentioning our Paper Chase (it is really quite exciting enough for capitals). The day of this event is next Saturday, and I will tell you of the exact arrangements in my next letter. The very best place, with the very windiest of paths, is Thomson’s Bush, so this is where the ’chase is to be held. Your loving
