LAUNCH PROPELLER STOLEN

SHAFT SAWN THROUGH. (United Press Association.) Wellington, October 20. The theft of a propeller from a motor launch drawn up on the beach near Evans Bay was discovered by the owner, Mr E. Kerr. The damage amounted to £9. The thief used a hacksaw to saw through the shaft, preferring to remove the propeller in this way rather than risk the noise that would be made in starting the holding nut. A heap of brass dust was the only clue.
