REMOVAL OF DEPUTYMAYOR

RECONSIDERATION REFUSED. (United Press Association.) Palmerston North, October 19. A petition bearing 3900 signatures has been presented to the City Council requesting reconsideration of the action of the council in removing Mr J. Hodgens, M.P., from the position of DeputyMayor. The council took no action. The Mayor, Mr J. Mansford, stated that a full, frank apology by Mr Hodgens was the only thing the council would listen to. Mr Hodgens’s removal was the result of a telegram he sent to the council which was considered insulting.
