FOREST FIRES NEAR SAN FRANCISCO
THOUSANDS OF ACRES DESTROYED. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) San Francisco, Oct. 17. A series of timber fires raged dangerously close to the San Francisco and Escort areas, destroying thousands of acres and causing the evacuation of Soulsbyville, Standard City and the outskirts of Winona. Other outbreaks occurred at Toulumne, Bolinas and in the Sierra National Forest. Several people t are missing.
