Mr and Mrs Struan Gardner, Lilburn, were visitors to town yesterday. . Miss Marjorie Mitchell has returned to Fairfax from a visit to Christchurch. Mr and Mrs Joll, Auckland, are the guests of Mr and Mrs J. Joll, Fairfax. Miss Fynes-Clinton returns to Christchurch to-day after a holiday in Invercargill. Miss Kevern, Invercargill, is the guest of Mrs George Densley, Tuatapere.

Mrs J. B. Nicoll, of Ashburton, is the guest of Mrs W. E. Hazlett, Filleul street.

Mrs Holmes, Milton, and Miss Sewell, Dunedin, have been visiting their sister, Mrs H. Ward, Benmorven, Fairfax.

Mrs W. L. Cunningham and her daughter, June, have returned to Castle Downs, Dipton; from a visit to Invercargill. Mrs W. F. Sturman, Earnslaw street, and Mrs Robert Stout, Layard street, were joint hostesses at tea yesterday afternoon in honour of Miss Elinor Jones, Earnslaw street. The function was held in the Tudor Lounge and each guest took something blue for the guest of honour, who is shortly to be married.
