STRUCK BY CAR. (United Press Association.) Dunedin, September 21. Donald Short, single, aged 57, was admitted to the hospital this afternoon in a serious condition, suffering from injuries to his back and right leg, caused through being struck by a motor car driven by a woman. The car swerved at the intersection of Princes street and Manor Place and mounted the footpath where Short was standing. SCHOOLBOY INJURED BY EXPLOSION. (United Press Association.) Wellington, September 21. Through putting a shotgun cartridge on the fire, P. Truelove, a schoolboy of Seatoun Road, had the first and third fingers of his right hand blown off when the charge exploded. He also received cuts about the hand and face and shock, and was taken to hospital. THREE PEOPLE INJURED IN COLLISION. (United Press Association.) Ashburton, September 21. Three people were injured, one of them seriously, through a car overturning as a result of a collision in the borough last evening. Mrs D. Shierlaw, was admitted to hospital with severe injuries to her chest and her condition is serious. It had not changed to-day. Wilfred Shierlaw, her son, had his right arm and jaw broken. His condition is satisfactory. Miss Ivy Shierlaw, a daughter, received a broken collarbone.
Two other occupants were severely shaken. The driver of the other car and his wife were not injured.
