WOMEN’S DIVISION

LOCHIEL BRANCH. At the monthly meeting of the Lochiel branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, Mrs J. W. Irwin (president) presided. A motion of sympathy was passed with two members in their recent bereavements. It was decided to donate a pair of sheets and pillow-cases to the children’s health camp. The two delegates to the Southland Executive, Mesdames D. C. Legat and A. Beck, gave an interesting report of the last quarterly meeting. The roll call was “Something my grandmother did without.” The winner of the best bloom competition was Miss G. Maconnachie. A competition, “Three potatoes boiled in their jackets,” resulted Mrs F. J. Wright 1, Miss L. McFadzien 2, Mrs McFadzien 3. Mrs Gerrard (Winton) gave a demonstration on wreath-making and also displayed some beautiful hand-painted china.
