CHINESE WORKERS ON STRIKE
DEMONSTRATIONS AT SINGAPORE. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 11.40 p.m. Singapore, Sept. 18. Minor strikes among Chinese building workers and pineapple factory workers during the week resulted yesterday in a demonstration in the centre of the city. The police charged with batons and the fire brigade turned on a hose. There were more strikers this afternoon, when over 2000 labourers at the Royal Air Force base joined the strikers, who demand more pay, less work and the formation of a union.
