Prisoners Sentenced At Wellington (United Press Association.) Wellington, September 17. Prisoners were sentenced by Mr Justice Smith in the Supreme Court as follows:— John Valentine Proctor, aged 30, a labourer and showman, for assault with intent to rob in the Gisborne district, two years’ reformative detention. Frank Fitzwilliams, aged 45, a labourer, for the same offence, one year’s imprisonment with hard labour, and warned of the possibility of being declared an habitual criminal. John Tahu Anaru, aged 26, a farm labourer, breaking, entering and theft at Napier, two years’ reformative detention and warned of the possibility of being declared an habitual criminal. Christopher Leonard Jansen, aged 46, a storeman and labourer, indecent assault on a male, five charges, terms of four and three years’ imprisonment, to be concurrent.
William Joseph Gee, aged 30, a cook, breaking, entering and theft and breaking and entering with intent, four years and two years’ imprisonment with hard labour, to be concurrent. Lionel John Lynch, aged 21, a clerk, forging and uttering, two and a-half years’ reformative detention, to be concurrent with a sentence he is at present serving.
