MONTHLY MEETING OF
BOARD
NURSING DISTRICT The monthly meeting of the Wallace Hospital Board was attended by Mr J. H. Smith (chairman), Miss H. L. Hunt and Messrs G. Edie, E. B. Patrick, F. J. Dyer, J. G. Johnston, W. B. Hopcroft and F. J. Linscott. The Department of Health, Wellington, wrote about the extension of the district nursing services to include Colac Bay and Tuatapere. It was decided to approach the district nurse about increasing the area as suggested. The medical superintendent (Dr E. S. Fossey) reported that £27 had been subscribed to instal radio equipment at the hospital. The board decided to make individual contributions towards having the installation carried out.
Nurse Allison wrote tendering her resignation owing to sickness in her family. The resignation was accepted, and Miss N. Robertson was appointed to the vacancy. Mr Edie reported on a number of minor repairs necessary to the maternity hospital at Nightcaps. It was decided to have the repairs carried out.
The Public Works Employers’ Association forwarded a copy of a proposed agreement about admission charges to members of the association requiring hospital or sanatorium treatment.
It was resolved that the agreement be approved of and signed. Dr Fossey reported as follows:— Patients remaining from July, 24 males, 17 females; admitted during August, 42 males, 27 females; total treated, 66 males, 44 females; discharged during August, 35 males. 28 females; remaining on August 31. 28 males, 12 females; operations, major. 18. minor, 16; X-ray in-patients. 29. out-patients, 13.
