The size of the herd is not as important as the kind of cows one keeps. Although a bull is “half the herd” the prepotency of many female lines makes many breeders take the view that the cow is “the better half.” Pigs may be born blind owing to a hereditary tendency or to lack of minerals in the sow’s food during her gestation period.
