OZONE TO KEEP CARGOES FRESH
NEW DOMINION REFRIGERATING SHIP.
(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.)
London, September 15. The Daily Telegraph says that science is closely allied with industry in the New Zealand Steam Ship Company’s 12,000-ton refrigerating ship, to be launched at the Clydebank on September 17. Ozone will be used to maintain the freshness of fruit and meat cargoes, for which there are over 300,000 cubic feet. Sea air will be passed hourly through the freezing chambers and the gases breathed out by pears and apples will be blown away, thus maintaining the purity of the air.
