Mr V. Raines was a passenger to Invercargill by the express last evening. Mr W. A. Ott was yesterday reelected president of the Southland Justices of the Peace Association. Mr A. Stuart, of the Department of Agriculture, leaves by the express this morning on a visit to Palmerston North. Mr D. M. Davin, of Invercargill, 1936 Rhodes Scholar, was to leave Auckland by the Akaroa yesterday for Great Britain to continue his studies at Oxford University. Mr T. Walker, president jf the Southland School Committees Association, leaves to-day to attend the annual Dominion conference of association delegates in Dunedin. Reference to the death of Mr W. N. Stirling, first president of the association and a life member, was made by the president of the Southland Justices of the Peace Association (Mr W. A. Ott) at its annual meeting yesterday. Mr Stirling was a notable member of the association, Mi’ Ott said, and his death in June was widely regretted.
