The funeral of Mr A. F. Grenfell took place yesterday afternoon. Over 70 cars followed the hearse to the Eastern Cemetery. The service at the house and the graveside was conducted by the Rev. E. B. Chambers. The pallbearers at the graveside were members of the South African War Veterans’ Association and the Returned Soldiers’ Association. Messrs Andrew Wilson and R. N. Todd represented the first body, and Colonel James Hargest, Major McCurdy, Lieutenant Hugh Crawford and Sergeant-Major Graham the second. At the conclusion of the service Sergeant-Major E. Hunter sounded the Last Post. Many organizations with which the late Mr Grenfell had been associated were represented at the funeral: The Educational Institute, the Southern Club, the Orphan’s Club, the Operatic Society, the Southland Rugby Football Union, the Repertory Theatre and the Masonic Lodge. _____ _____
