MOSGIEL TOO GOOD
Chatham Cup Match The Corinthian Club’s attempt to win the Chatham Cup, the premier Association football club trophy of New Zealand, did not get very far. After winning its first match in Invercargill Corinthians was trounced at Logan Park, Dunedin, on Saturday by eight goals to one. On paper this looks to be a heavy defeat but four or five to one would have been a fairer margin. Corinthians started off well and in the first 10 minutes looked like a good side. Chances, however, went begging and Mosgiel was not slow to realize that the.visitors were not so strong as reported; team work was lacking. However, they were unfortunate in that three of the goals scored against them came under the heading of “doubtful.” The game was very fast and the referee could not keep up with the play. Offside play was not checked as well as it might have been. Sutherland, the O’Rorke brothers and John and James Morrison were the best of the Corinthian players, while Skinner and Farnan were outstanding for Mosgiel.
