AMATEUR BOXING
WINTON TOURNAMENT The amateur boxing tournament conducted" by the Winton Boxing Club at Winton last evening attracted boxers from all ovex’ the province. Approximately 50 entries were received and 28 bouts were contested before the finals were reached. It was a good night s entertainment and some promising lads were seen in action. A special attraction was a no-decision bout between Roy de Gans and J. Kelly. The Theatre Royal was packed. Officials of the Southland Boxing Association conducted the tournament. Mr A. E. Tall was referee; the judges were Messrs J. Powley, W. Hannon and N. McGorlick, and Mr P. C. Donnelly was timekeeper. Following ai’e the results: — J. Brice (9.4) beat W. Lee (9.2) on a technical knock-out in the second round. . , L. McKnight (9.0) beat J. Wilson Brice (9.4) beat F. Neilson (9.3). A. Broad (9.9) beat J. Lambert (9.3) L. Glover (10.0) beat J. Burke (10.3). G. Cameron (9.9) beat J. Beck (9.11). T. Francis (10.4) beat J. Thompson (10.3) on a technical knock-out in the third round. J. Holt (10.6) beat W. Young (10.7) on a foul in the second round. Young was ahead on points at the time. W. Cornish (11.4) beat J. Edwards (I M° )- Fisken (11.0) beat J. Mclvor (1 B 2) Scott (11.4) beat D. McKenzie (11.6) on a technical knock-out in the second round. . I. Branks (9.0) beat V. Davis (8a). J. Watson (9.0) beat G. Ward (8.12), on a technical knock-out in the second round. „ „ . . J. Shaw (12.2) beat E. Boivin (12.0), on a technical knock-out in the second round. _ W. Murdoch (11.12) beat E. Savage (12 7) J. Reidy (10.2) beat W. Campbell (9.8). L. McKnight beat G. Cameron. S. Turner beat G. Brice. T. Francis knocked out W. Anderson in the third round. J. Holt beat F. Glover by a technical knock-out in the first round. A. Broad beat L. Scully. Cornish beat Fisken. A. Cameron (8.0), knocked-out J. Ward (7.6) in the second round. W. Enwright (9.6) beat A. Boyd (9.2). A. Paulin (10,7) beat L. Braithwaite (10.7) J. Watson beat I. Branks. ( T, McKnight beat S.
