SHIPMENT OF WHEAT LANDED
STATED TO BE IMPORTED BY GOVERNMENT. (United Press Association.) • Auckland, June 15. In spite of the Government’s decision to prohibit the importation of wheat, a shipment of 4000 tons from Australia was landed by the Kairanga at Auckland on Thursday last. A circular issued by an Auckland merchant states that this was imported by the Government to supply local mills. The circular states that it is understood that the wheat would be used by Auckland mills to strengthen New Zea-, land flour, which had recently shown signs of weakness. It was stated that the Government had not yet decided to continue to import wheat from Australia.
